A few months ago I started working on a new version of my old track “Plastic & Flashing Lights”, in response to an animated music video created by Victor Haegelin. The act of polishing up and re-imagining these works with the equipment I have today was so inspiring and somewhat relieving, that I decided to create a full EP with this style in mind.
3 old tracks re-done almost entirely from scratch, and 2 new tracks that were made in the process create this fresh EP of hopelessly big beat tracks. What sets this EP apart from my other releases is the Deluxe Creator’s Version, which contains the bus stems for the source material, allowing creators to re-use and re-edit the material as they see fit, as well as instrumental versions of the tracks with vocals, and a different version of “Wire & Flashing Lights” that has a different intro that I did for this one video thing.
I hope you guys find this stuff useful. It was sort of an experiment and a response to the questions I’d get from creators once in a while. In an order to make my music more flexible and accessible by those who are inspired by it, by those who create with it, I wanted to make an EP that wasn’t just a collection of music, but somewhat of a toolbox. It’s always been a huge honor to see my work used by other creators in hundreds of different ways and almost all for different reasons.
It’s always been humbling to know that people support my work and appreciate what I do. I frankly don’t think I’m that good, or at least as good as I’d like to be, but to date I seem to be the only one that thinks so. Again, thank you so much for your support, and I hope this inspires at least some of the brilliant and imaginative creators out there.
